I got into an accident about two weeks ago. I was hit from behind, pushed into another vehicle and that vehicle was pushed into another. Four cars total. Thank you Hurricane Fay. The roads were wet, it was dark outside. Homeboy behind me got cited for the accident as the other three cars (mine included) were stopped at a red light.
After the insurance company, liability run around, my adjuster finally set up an appointment for my Jeep to get fixed. I took her in a couple of days ago. Yesterday, my service rep called to inform me that there is more damage than originally indicated. Basically, the frame was bent due to being sandwiched between two other vehicles. So, the repair shop is attempting to straighten out the bends. If it’s possible, I’ll get the Jeep back in a day or two. Worst case scenario, my Jeep’s totalled.
Most people who drive a 5 year old vehicle would be happy to total it out and get a new one. The thing is, I like my Jeep. She was the first thing I purchased as an adult with my own credit. I had purchased a pickup truck, previously, with a co-signer. The Jeep is rightfully mine, and something I’m proud of. I don’t want her to be totalled. Here’s to hoping they can get her frame back to within one millimeter of manufacturers specifications!
So they put me in a Malibu as a rental. I feel way too low to the ground, but other than that- I don’t mind it. It slightly reminds me of a different time in my life; when my girlfriends (at the time) mom had one. We used to borrow it in the middle of the night and joy ride through Winter Park. No one else has put soap in the fountains in that area in years.
