Blue Man Group was amazing. I definitely had a great time. I would like to see it again some time soon.
We started the evening at Chili’s, with our room mate, Amber and Christina’s sister, Sarah. Two for ones all day is never a bad deal. We realized as soon as we were seated that we had a lot less time than we originally thought. So we ordered drinks and and appetizer. Time came down to a crunch, and we had to leave. We pissed off the server by canceling the last drink. I would have felt bad, but she was just standing at the bar shooting the shit with the bartender when we approached her, after having waited on the drink for over 15 minutes. Amber and Sarah stayed, and ordered dinner.
Christina and I made it to City Walk and the show right in the nickof time. Poor Christina had to pee since we had left the restaurant and the bathrooms were packed, plus we were short on time. We were seated about 5 minutes prior to the show starting.
The show was quite the experience. I good blend of visual effects, humor and live music really does make it appeal in some way, to everyone.
When we got back to the house, we had a glass of wine with our room mate and her girlfriend “homegirl.“
I wish I had take the camera with us to City Walk. I’ve been really bad about carrying it with me lately. All in all, I think Christina had a great birthday. She said she had the best birthday ever. =)

Being in a somewhat adventurous mood, Christina and I decided to check out Hamburger Mary’s for dinner. I really dug the atmosphere. It’s a great place to take friends. The food was a little less than I had expected. I figured with a name with Hamburger in the title, the burger would be exceptional. We both had the ”Queen Mary” which was a decent grade of meat and cooked properly, but the bun was a little dried out. All most stale tasting. The bacon was super dry as well, it had been over cooked. Maybe arriving earlier would avoid the dried out experience. We didn’t get there until about 9 PM. Their fries are coated with some kind of smokey flavored seasoning. It’s a matter of personal taste, but there was too much of that seasoning. The onion rings were great. A perfect after-the-club indulgence. They have a pretty decent drink menu, offering $3 “Train Shots” each time the train passes through Church Street Station. This rumbles the house and a gay boy with a microphone announces the $3 special. Your check is delivered to the table in a size 6 1/2, red, high heeled shoe.
I would recommend checking out Hamburger Mary’s for the atmosphere. It’s a great place to pre drink before you visit the clubs, downtown. Some drinks are a little pricey, as the $3 “Train Shot” was the only “special” advertised.
The staff is friendly, upbeat and in some cases charming. A mostly male staff might make some lesbians feel as if they’re in a sausage fest. Seating was awkward, as the booths in the back of the restaurant do not have backs to them. Lean too far, and you’re bumping elbows with another patron. A large party was seated right behind us. They were a little on the obnoxious, but we were downtown on a Saturday night, ya know.
The next time I venture to Hamburger Mary’s, I’ll bring friends and plan to drink. Large round tables in the front of the restraunt seem to be the place to be. It’s a place to enjoy with friends, not a romantic dinner for two.
